TOK Game Preview – New York Knicks At Oklahoma City Thunder

0

The Knicks have ran their winning streak to 11 games but face arguably their stiffest test in weeks when they travel to Oklahoma City to face Kevin Durant and the Thunder. Carmelo has racked up 131 points in the past 3 games…can he out-gun Durant in his building?

Current Standings – New York (49-26) – 2nd in the Eastern Conference (10.5 games behind the Miami Heat), 1st in the Atlantic Division (5.5 games ahead of the Brooklyn Nets). Oklahoma City (56-20) – 2nd in the Western Conference (.5 games behind the San Antonio Spurs, 3.5 games ahead of the 3rd seeded Nuggets).

Injury Update – New York – Kurt Thomas (out, foot), Amare Stoudemire (out, knee), Rasheed Wallace (out, foot), Kenyon Martin (out, knee). Oklahoma City – No injuries to repor

Previous Meetings – The Knicks lost in their previous meeting with the Thunder back on March 7th, 95-94 despite 36 points from JR Smith however Carmelo Anthony did not play.

What’s at Stake – Thanks to the Wizards, the Knicks now have a 2 game lead over the Indiana Pacers for the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference and could continue to increase their lead with a win today. A victory would also give the Knicks their 50th win, a number they haven’t hit since 1999. The Thunder are currently .5 games behind the Spurs for the Western Conference’s #1 seed, so there is plenty on the line for both teams.

Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant are also currently neck in neck for the NBA scoring title thanks to Anthony’s ridiculous recent barrage of points.

Key Matchup – Carmelo Anthony vs. Kevin Durant - All eyes will be on the two NBA’s premier scorers gunning it out. Anthony is the hottest offensive player in the league right now and Durant is Durant…arguably the most naturally gifted scorer in the NBA. Whatever the over/under is for today’s game…take the over. Outside of this highlight match-up, it will be interesting to see if JR Smith can help the Knicks offense pace with the Thunder by supporting Anthony with another big performance.
