What are your first round playoff predictions?

Kevin Smith - Eastern Conference:

Pacers over Hawks in 4

Heat over Bobcats in 4

Nets over Raptors in 7

Bulls over Wizards in 6

Western Conference:

Spurs over Mavericks in 6

Thunder over Grizzlies in 5

Clippers over Warriors in 6

Rockets over Blazers in 7

Aaron Jacobs - Starting in the Eastern Conference, where there are really only 4 teams that even deserve to be in the playoffs, I believe the first round will be pretty uneventful. The Indiana Pacers will defeat the Atlanta Hawks, but I am going to say this will be a 5-6 game series given the Pacers debacle toward the end of the season. The Miami Heat will sweep the Charlotte Bobcats, because as good as Al Jefferson is, he can’t beat the defending champs by himself. The Chicago Bulls will eventually wear down the young legs of the Washington Wizards with stingy defense and win the series in 5-6 games. Finally the “upset” of the conference, the Brooklyn Nets will defeat the Toronto Raptors in 6 games, although this one could go 7 because the Raptors are a very overlooked team offensively.

Out in the wild wild Western Conference we should have some quality playoff basketball in every round. the San Antonio Spurs will take care of business defeating the Dallas Mavericks in 5 games. The Oklahoma City Thunder will face a very good defensive Memphis Grizzlies team who will probably steal a game at home, but ultimately also lose in 5 games. If Andrew Bogut were healthy I would gladly pick the Golden State Warriors over the Los Angeles Clippers, but that’s not the case and Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan prove to be too much in this compelling 7-game series. Finally my “upset,” if you can call it that, is the Portland Trailblazers over the Houston Rockets, because I believe that Damian Lillard shows everyone that he is the next superstar point guard in this league for years to come, oh and this series goes 6 games.
